Pitha Utshob 1430
January 18, 2024

The "Pitha Utshob" is an annual cultural event that we, North Western University (NWU), organize to celebrate and preserve the rich traditions of Bangladeshi culture during the winter season. This event, held on January 18, 2024, took place at the IEB Khulna Center, located beside NWU Building 1. The esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Nawsher Ali Moral, Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) of North Western University, along with the Dean of Faculties, Registrar, Heads of Departments, Proctor, Director, and Controller of Examinations, marked the inauguration of this event.

The "Pitha Utshob" provides a platform for students to engage with one another and immerse themselves in the vibrant Bengali culture. Students from various departments showcased their culinary skills by bringing in a wide array of homemade pithas. A total of 24 delectable pithas, including dhudhpuli, shemaipitha, mangsherpitha, chitoipitha, chocolate cake, custard cake, jhalpitha, and shahitukra, were available for sale.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, all students from different departments adorned themselves in traditional attire. The ladies looked elegant in jamdani sarees, while the men showcased their style in punjabis. The venue was further enhanced by the melodious tunes of popular Bangla songs playing in the background.

By organizing the "Pitha Utshob," NWU aims to not only celebrate our cultural heritage but also pass on its glory to the next generation.
